Portal offers a total of 67 Government services

Kingdom of Bahrain - The eGovernment Authority (eGA) today announced the success of the Sanitary Complaints eServices available online at www.bahrain.bh since earlier this year. Sanitary complaints were the first e-service of four to be made available to the public online by the Ministry of Works in 2008. The services are aligned with the e-Government program goals that aim to achieve a higher standard of living and quality of life by providing comprehensive, accurate and timely information and services.

The Sanitary Complaints eService allows residents, municipalities and other governmental bodies to submit sewage related complaints to the Sanitary Engineering Operations and Maintenance Directorate (SEOMD) and access responses via the Ministry's eService on the e-Government portal.

The instructions for lodging and following up sanitary complaints are available on the e-Government portal www.bahrain.bh and include the allocation of a tracking number for each complaint.

Other Ministry of Works online services are planned to be released in the near future through the e-Government portal, ensuring that customers are served in a convenient, cost-effective and timely manner.

The Ministry of Works is currently working on 5-year strategic information systems plan to deploy more public infrastructure e-services on the e-Government portal in the near future.

The e-Government portal was created in May 2007 to give individuals and businesses an additional channel of access to various government services. It supports the Government of Bahrain's Vision 2030 by aiming to provide government integrated services, that are best-in-class and available to all through multi channels helping Bahrain transform as the country of choice in the GCC to visit, live, work and do business.

According to Mr. Hisham Sater, Director of Information Technology at the Ministry of Works, the online services introduced in 2008 have seen a gradual increase in usage and increase in customer satisfaction. He said "We are delighted with the momentum we have built in bringing our services online and available through the eGovernment portal. It is very important to the Ministry of Works that these services reach the public in a quick and convenient way".

Mr. Isa AbdulRahman, Director of Marketing and Awareness at the e-Government Authority said, "This cooperation of ministries and government bodies is one of the ways in which Bahrain will achieve its Vision 2030 initiatives towards a bright and prosperous future for all in the Kingdom."

Since its initiation in 2007 the eGovernment Authority has consistently devised innovative methods that save time and accelerate public service delivery. One of these methods is the creation of the www.bahrain.bh portal which offers convenient, user-friendly service available online 24x7. Other time-saving methods are planned for roll-out in the coming months and years.
