It will be chaired by Ahmed Al Hujairi, former chairman of Bahrain Internet Society.
Other members in the committee include EGA marketing and awareness director Isa Abdul Rahman, AbdulAziz Al Dossary, from EGA, Obaidli Al Obaidli, a private sector representative, Zuhair Al Baharna and Leena Alawi, from Industry and Commerce Ministry, and Nawaf Abdulrahman and Ahmad Al Balooshi, from the Bahrain Internet Society.
EGA chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed said the new board has been created to set guidelines and evaluate the criteria for firms and individuals who participate in the Bahrain eContent Awards.
The committee will be responsible for the announcement of awards dates and results, receiving nomination of participants and for granting the awards during a ceremony scheduled for the beginning of next year.
"The members of the committee represent a wide range of experience and expertise drawn from across the public and private sector in Bahrain," said Mr Al Qaed.
Experience
"In forming this committee, we have taken into account both the experience of eGovernment and the Industry and Commerce Ministry, in recognition of their respective contributions towards technology since the launch of Bahrain eContent awards in 2003.
"This also ensures that the technology requirements of the public sector will be understood."
Mr Al Qaed said the Bahrain Internet Society was invited to be part of the committee because of its experience and knowledge of the web industry.
Mr Al Hujairi welcomed the announcement of the committee's formation, stressing that this would give wider opportunities for Bahrain to gain a firm footing into ICT markets through specific innovative projects.
The committee will hold a workshop for participants, to give them experience in the design and creation of e-Content, he noted.
