A group of 30 Bahraini university graduates have been trained to popularise the use of the Internet as part of an e-government strategy.

They will conduct a series of road shows, and the first of them are being held at the desert camps in Sakhir.

A special tent has been erected with a number of laptops, which are available to campers.

They can use the wireless Internet service there free of charge, said e-Government Agency chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed.

"Campers who are not familiar with the use of Internet and laptop will be trained by the graduates," he told the GDN.

"This unique initiative will convert Bahrain's desert camps into e-camps.

"Similar road shows will be conducted in schools, shopping malls and public places in future."

Mr Al Qaed said 30 Bahraini university graduates have been recruited for the project in co-ordination with the Education Ministry.

"They were trained in the basics of e-government as well as in communication and presentation skills," he added.

"The service of the graduates, who are equipped with laptops and projectors, will also be used for popular majlis being held in different parts of the country."

Mr Al Qaed said the project is in line with Bahrain's vision to become a regional e-government leader, committed to using leading edge technologies to serve and provide value to its customers.
