Bahrain's government moved into the hi-tech age yesterday with the launch of Bab Al Bahrain - an electronic website.

It will link all government ministries and help speed up services to citizens via the Internet.

It is a comprehensive framework and an integral system that enables government administrations to provide their services electronically.

The website is also equipped with a central payment system under the supervision of the Finance Ministry. He added that an information office was created to respond to citizens' inquiries on electronic services, noting that a number of essential governmental services have been provided for citizens while work is well under way to provide more services soon such as electricity and water bill payment.
