All 241 public parks in the state capital will soon be digitally mapped to display ward, zone, land record details, number of trees, and caretaker information, following orders issued on Monday.
Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh gave the directive during a review of monsoon plantation efforts. He said the digitisation will be done using GIS mapping so that each parks status is clearly visible and easily monitored.
Of the citys 241 parks, 157 are managed by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), 47 by the Bhopal Development Authority (BDA), 21 by the Capital Project Administration (CPA), 12 by the Social Forestry Department, and four by the Horticulture Department.
The meeting, held at the divisional commissioners office, was attended by DFO Nidhi Chauhan, Joint Commissioner Vinod Yadav, Additional Commissioner Devendra Singh Chauhan, Smart City SDO Ritesh Sharma, and officers from BDA, CPA and Horticulture. Singh directed that plantation drives be intensified during the monsoon.
Saplings must be of good size and quality, and arrangements for fencing, irrigation and post-rain care must be in place. He also urged departments to spread awareness about the importance of trees and motivate citizens to plant saplings in their mothers names to build emotional connection and responsibility.
Officials informed that 3.14 lakh trees currently stand in parks managed by the BMC, 2.96 lakh under Social Forestry, 2,887 in BDA parks, and 1,250 in Horticulture Department parks. Parks that still lack fencing should be secured without delay.
Singh also instructed departments to work with the Revenue Department to ensure all parks are properly recorded in land documents and reflected in official records.
