BJP's Vikas Sharma, newly elected mayor of Rudrapur, prioritizes infrastructural advancements and employee welfare. He plans to improve essential services, address staff shortages, and transform the city into a smart city starting with a solar energy model ward. Transparency in vending zone allotments is also a key focus.
After being elected mayor of the Rudrapur Municipal Corporation, BJP's Vikas Sharma outlined his vision for the city's development, focusing on infrastructural improvements, employee welfare and transforming Rudrapur into a smart city.
Discussing his immediate priorities, Sharma said, "My primary focus is to enhance the city's infrastructure by improving basic amenities such as roads, water supply, electricity, and drainage systems. We will also introduce hi-tech waste management solutions to maintain cleanliness. Additionally, I aim to address the staff shortage in the municipal corporation and will soon meet the chief minister to expedite recruitments."
Regarding his plans to make Rudrapur a smart city, he stated, "A smart city requires modern infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions. We will begin by equipping one ward with 100% solar energy as a model project. If successful, we will expand this initiative citywide. Additionally, we will focus on digital governance to streamline municipal services and improve efficiency."
Sharma also emphasised the importance of employee welfare, saying, "Efficient governance depends on the well-being of our employees. I have assured them that their concerns will be addressed on priority. We will regularly seek their suggestions and work towards resolving their issues. Additionally, we will provide advanced equipment to enhance efficiency and improve working conditions."
Addressing the long-pending issue of vending zone allotments, Sharma said, "We will soon introduce a minimum price structure for shop allotments in vending zones. This will ensure transparency, provide fair opportunities for vendors, and promote organized urban planning."
