The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), which executes the smart city projects here, has started installing new smart iconic traffic posts that are equipped with facilities such as fans, lights, mobile charging points and more.

The installation of the new traffic post has been going on simultaneously at 25 locations, including Master Canteen Square, Saheed Nagar Square, Ravi Talkies Square, Kalpana Square and BJB Nagar Square, among others.

Once completed, the new traffic posts will come as a great relief especially for the traffic personnel, who have been discharging their duties standing in the open in the sun, rain and chill.

The new smart traffic posts are equipped with solar power system that has a 56 hours long power back-up facility. It also has celling fans, soft glow lighting and loudspeakers with mic announcement system.

The iconic traffic posts also have emergency call button to facilitate the traffic personnel in any kind of emergency situation. It further has the rain protection cover and collapsible sheet from railing to ceiling on all four sides to protect the traffic personnel from heat.

Further to give the traffic posts an iconic look, the BSCL has been adding the heritage components in the design. The bars of the traffic posts will have carvings from the Konark Sun Temple to give it a traditional and cultural outlook.

Earlier, BSCL had implemented a pilot project of the same and replaced the erstwhile traffic posts with the new smart ones at different junctions along Bidyut Marg and other VIP roads, including the airport road.

The plan is to provide a smart look to the traffic posts while simultaneously facilitating our traffic personnel who usually performed their duty selflessly. The process of installation will be completed by the end of this month.
