Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday inaugurated and laid foundation for two dozen projects of Jammu Smart City worth Rs 113 crore.

These projects will facilitate smart living with better public services improving the quality of life , opportunities for local economic development and easier accessibility for everyone.

L-G noted that eco-cities have been envisioned to make urban infrastructure sustainable and that the global framework for smart cities has undergone a paradigm shift in the last two to three years. He claimed that Jammu Smart City projects have made sure that residents are given the most green space possible.

"Our aim is to develop Jammu into an eco-city that supports both ecological assets and sustainable economic operations. Six initiatives have been started to maximise the benefits of a rich ecological, improve societal well-being, and increase resource efficiency " he said. To make the cities and towns of the UT resilient, competitive, and vibrant with solid social infrastructure, Sinha also emphasised the importance of multi-stakeholder contributions and public involvement.

The Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex was illuminated for Rs 3.32 crore, digital ad panels at various sites around Jammu City cost Rs 3.48 crore, and static ad panels at various locations throughout Jammu City cost Rs 4.95 crore. These projects were all launched by Sinha.

The foundation stones were laid for a number of projects, including the complete street development from Mubarak Mandi to Raghunath Bazar (5.50 km heritage trail) at a cost of Rs 16.18 crore, the Canal Road-Talab Tillo complete street development at a cost of Rs 20.21 crore, the Blue Green project for the Ranbir Canal from BSF Paloura to Pawan Ice Cream (Phase I and II) at a cost of Rs 20.17 crore, among others.
