The society was constituted recently following a notification issued by the government and published in the gazette on December 10. The PDeGS will administer the implementation of e-District, a Mission Mode Project (MMP) for the overall benefit of the citizens by setting up the necessary administrative, financial, legal and technical framework, implementation mechanism and resources in the district of Puducherry.
The e-District project is to be implemented in all the four regions of the Union Territory of Puducherry. e-District project aims at electronic delivery of all public services at district and sub-district level, progressively.
It encompasses online services across 12 line departments, K Prakash, director of Information Technology, told Express.
Puducherry district comprises Puducherry, Mahe and Yanam regions. For each region, e-District managers have been appointed. Now the process of identification of system integrator (SI) is under progress.
The implementation of the scheme will be completed in one year commencing from the date of award to the SI and will be followed by three years of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) phase, said Prakash.
Initially, 10 categories which include five mandatory services, issue of certificates, social welfare schemes, revenue court, ration card and five State specific (certificates, revenue, marriage, electoral, licences, court, utility, collection of tax/dues, industries, grants, travel, employment, health, education, grievances etc)) of identified high volume citizen centric public services at district and sub-district level will be taken up for implementation in phase-I. Online Revenue Department services include issuing income, residence nativity and other certificates.
