Chandigarh : A State Data Centre (SDC) for Haryana will be set up by March next year at an estimated cost of Rs 50.68 crore, a spokesman of the Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation (Hartron) said.
Out of the total cost, Rs 13.50 crore will be contributed by the Department of Information Technology, Government of India and the balance will be met through additional central assistance for National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) provisions of Planning Commission.
The state government was also going to implement Smart Card based public distribution system in the State. A proposal for the project had already been approved by the Government of India with an outlay of Rs. 153 crore, the spokesperson said.
Under the project paper based ration cards in public distribution system would be replaced by the Smart Cards. About 52 lakh eligible families of the state would be issued Smart Ration Cards.
He said that Hartron has been identified as the State Designated Agency (SDA) for implementing the common services centre (CSC ) scheme in the state for establishing and operating 1159 rural CSCs and 104 Urban CSCs to be called “E-Disha Ekal Seva Kendras” under Public Private Partnership model.
To further boost the setting up of IT and ITES units in the state, Hartron has initiated a proposal to set up Information Technology and Telecommunication Complexes having state- of -the -art facilities on design finance build operate and transfer Model in Gurgaon at a cost of Rs 300 crore.
A robust interface in the form of e-Procurement between the state government, procurement agencies and suppliers had also been initiated. Payment gateway was also being planned to facilitate citizens for online transactions, he added.
