The three-day crash course will be held at the National Institute for Smart Government in Hyderabad. The syllabus will be different for politicians and bureaucrats.
It will include topics like good governance, e-governance and how the people’s representatives can monitor the progress of development schemes online.
Funded by the Centre, the course will commence from the first week of October.
“The Centre has accepted our proposal for the training,” said Principal Secretary (IT and Electronic) Chandra Prakash. It has been sent to the chief minister for approval — likely to be granted in the next few days.
Prakash added that around 800 politicians, along with over 1,200 bureaucrats will begin the training from October. “Such a programme is unique for UP and will certainly help politicians and bureaucrats improve their skills in discharging their duties,” he said.
The programme will be implemented in phases. In the first phase, all 60 ministers of the Mayawati cabinet, along with Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members of the state will be sent to Hyderabad in separate batches.
Later, all MLAs and MLCs, along with senior bureaucrats, will be sent for the crash course. “In the last phase, the field staff of different government departments will be trained so that the benefit of IT reaches the grassroots level,” said Prakash.
He added that the state government has also decided to set up a call centre in Lucknow, where residents can submit their complaints against any government-sponsored scheme.
It will forward the complaints to the respective departments for further action. The call centre will serve several purposes for the government — checking irregularities and ensuring regular feedback from the people.
Moreover, in an investor-friendly move, the IT department will launch a new website within two months.
This website will have details of all state departments, said Prakash.
