In the second phase, the government has planned to start such centres in the palace city of Mysore where five locations have already been identified. Mangalore, Belgaum and Shimoga are the other places where similar service centres would be opened in the next phases, he added.
Taking the e-way out He said e-governance would be implemented in all departments right from the district to the secretariat level this year itself and in the next phase it would be done from gram panchayat to district level. The next phase may be implemented after a year, he said.
“The aim of the government is to make Karnataka a model state in e-governance,” he said.
Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly T B Jayachandra had a word of caution for the government.
He suggested the government be careful while outsourcing the e-governance work.
He did not leave any scope for errors towards the aim of making Karnataka go the e-way. “If any agency is not working up to the expected level, the government must mercilessly replace it with some other agency,” he said.
... and new layouts The State Government has given permission to the Bangalore Development Authority to develop five new residential layouts in the capital having a total 1,68,065 sites. Replying to a question raised by the Floor Leader of the JD(S) HD Revanna in the Assembly about the new layouts coming up in Bangalore Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said of these sites, 12,000 sites would distributed to the poor and low income groups.
For these five layouts the government has planned to acquire 15,277 acres.
Land acquisition for Nadaprabhu Kempegowda and Dr K Shivarama Karantha Layouts has already been started. The government has given permission to the BDA to start acquisition proceedings for the other three layouts.
The other three new layouts have been named Kyasamballi Changalarayareddy Layout, D Devaraj Urs Layout and S Nijalingappa Layout. For these layouts the BDA is planning to acquire lands in and around 27 villages located between Madras Road and Hosur Road.
