In the first step towards e-Governance, the State government has launched its own indigenous special software called 'Office Procedure Automation Software', developed by the State’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) cell.

According to Lalthla Muana, Deputy Secretary, IT, all secretariat offices and departments in the state capital were now connected through computer.

With the installation of this software, files would move faster and office procedures would be less burdensome, he said.

The main objective of the system, Mauna said, is to monitor all pending files in the respective departments, so that the required files can be tracked later if necessary.

"The software package is based on client technology, where the server would be Microsoft SQL and the client would be microsoft windows 98 or XP with OPA package," he explained.

Mauna also stated that the end-users now could feed, query, track and take reports of data whenever it was required.

Apart from connecting secretariats and department offices, ICT cell has connected all district headquarters with the state capital with video conferencing capabilities.
