In a move to further streamline revenue administration by reducing red tape, the State Government is planning to integrate some of the mundane services used by the common man into its land mark e-governance initiative - Bhoomi - in the next few months.

According to sources in the Revenue department, one can soon get caste, birth and death certificates among others at the click of a mouse at Bhoomi kiosks across the State.

At present, Bhoomi-kiosks set up at all taluk headquarters offer only Right-Tenanancy-Certificates (RTC) of agricultural lands.

‘‘We are in the final stages of expanding the services through Bhoomi,’’ they said, expressing confidence that the new services would begin within the next four to five months.

Once implemented, they will help people to get certificates in no time, besides help them avoid purchasing fake certificates in circulation in the market, as the new certificates would have bio-metric authentication, they said.

Recently, Bhoomi was linked to another successful e-initiative - Kaveri - (Karnataka Valuation and E Registration Initiative). This would expedite the process of registration of agricultural lands.

Besides this, the Government is also in the process of setting up Bhoomi kiosks at hoblis.

The sources said that some private companies had come forward to set up these kiosks that will help the farmers to get land records in no time.

Over 20 million land records of 6.7 million land owners across the State have been computerised under the Bhoomi project that started in 2001.

The special software has been designed fully in-house by the National Informatics Center, Bangalore.
