Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s enterprise and public sector arm, TM One, has partnered with the Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG) and Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd (SAMB) to drive Melaka’s digital transformation. This collaboration focuses on enhancing urban governance, water management, and public safety through advanced digital technologies and smart solutions.
At the heart of this initiative is TM One’s Local Urban Observatory (LUO) smart solution, a data-driven platform designed to improve urban monitoring and decision-making for MPAG. The LUO system integrates real-time data analytics, predictive insights, and performance tracking to streamline public services and infrastructure management.
This five-year partnership equips MPAG with tools to monitor critical urban metrics, analyse infrastructure performance, and address environmental sustainability challenges. By leveraging AI and big data, the LUO platform provides actionable insights for better governance, improved resource allocation, and enhanced urban living standards.
Shazurawati Abd Karim, TM One’s Executive Vice President, highlighted that the LUO solution demonstrates how AI and analytics can create smarter and more responsive cities. “This collaboration empowers Alor Gajah to enhance its public service responsiveness and create a more liveable environment, aligning with Melaka’s smart city aspirations,” she said.
In parallel, TM One supports SAMB in transforming Melaka’s water management services. Through TM One’s Open Innovation Platform (OIP) and a suite of smart digital tools, SAMB is now equipped to manage its workforce operations with increased efficiency.
These tools enable precise workflow management, real-time task allocation, and improved monitoring of meter readings, infrastructure repairs, and contractor activities. Workforce monitoring devices further enhance operational visibility by capturing real-time data and on-site location reporting, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and safely.
The integration of high-speed mobile connectivity also facilitates seamless communication and coordination between teams, resulting in faster issue resolution and improved service quality for residents.
Shazurawati emphasised that digitalising workforce operations improves operational resilience and elevates service standards, positioning SAMB for long-term efficiency and reliability.
TM One’s contributions to Melaka also extend to public safety through the TM Response Centre. As one of Malaysia’s three emergency call centres, it operates 24/7 with over 150 trained personnel managing emergency calls and coordinating response efforts.
This centre plays a crucial role in connecting the public to emergency services, ensuring quick response times, and reinforcing community safety across the state.
The collaboration between TM One, MPAG, and SAMB reflects a shared commitment to advancing Melaka’s digital transformation goals. By integrating smart urban solutions, efficient water management systems, and robust public safety infrastructure, TM One is helping Melaka lay the foundation for a smarter, more sustainable future.
This partnership serves as a model for other regions, showcasing the transformative potential of digital technologies in enhancing public services, sustainability, and citizen well-being. As Melaka continues its journey towards becoming a premier smart city, TM One remains a key enabler of this vision.
Malaysia is actively driving digital transformation across all districts and states, ensuring equitable access to advanced technologies and smart solutions. This nationwide effort aims to enhance public services, boost economic resilience, and improve citizens’ quality of life through seamless digital integration.
OpenGov Asia reported that Sarawak is making significant strides through its partnership with Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Bhd (SDEC). This collaboration focuses on enhancing connectivity, improving public services, and bridging the digital divide, particularly in rural areas. By deploying high-speed infrastructure, enabling cloud adoption, and supporting smart solutions, Sarawak aims to drive inclusive growth, empower key sectors like education and healthcare, and foster a resilient digital ecosystem.
Such initiatives align with Malaysia’s broader digital transformation goals for equitable progress nationwide. They also serve as a blueprint for fostering innovation, improving service delivery, and narrowing the urban-rural digital divide across the country.
