The newly integrated national construction information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure under the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) will enhance transparency and corporate governance in the construction industry, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said. The new ICT infrastructure, which forms part of the national eGovernment framework to leverage on the Internet to reorganise the local construction sector, is said to level the playing field for Malaysian contractors in the local and international construction arena.

Speaking after the launching ceremony of the national construction ICT framework in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Samy Vellu said the incorporation of the National eTender System into CIDB's ICT framework would boost corporate governance in the public tendering process.

The National e-Tender system is targeted for implementation on several selected construction projects this year.
