It aims to achieve 20 per cent of the total vehicle ownership transfer transactions by 2013.
Executive chairman Datuk Dr Norraesah Mohamad said the group had invested several million ringgit on the service, which will allow vehicle owners and eventual buyers the convenient option of transferring vehicle ownership online.
"We hope by next year, the service will be able to achieve about 20 per cent of the total transaction of ownership transfers," she told reporters after the launch of the service by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha today.
She said currently, 35 per cent of the Road Transport Department transactions were through the company.
"We are diligently seeking new areas and developing innovative ideas to enhance our suite of services with the principal goal of providing services that enhance convenience to the public when transacting with the government."
She also said that the group was currently looking for opportunity to extend the coverage of e-government road tax renewal to Sabah and Sarawak.
Meanwhile, Kong said the launch of the service was in line with the government's initiative to achieve the target of 85 per cent of government's services to go online by 2015.
He said over the last three years, the number of registered vehicles in Malaysia has increased steadily and statistics showed that about 1.2 million vehicle ownership were transferred manually last year.
MyEG, a MSC-status company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, was established in 2000 with principal activities comprising the development and implementation of E-Government services.
Among the services offered by the group are online vehicle road tax renewal, auto insurance renewal and online traffic summons checking and payments delivery.
