Its president Prof Dr Ahmad Zaki Abu Bakar said it would bring more advantages to schools since information and communications technology (ICT) was part and parcel of teaching and learning in this information era.
"It is also in line with Malaysia's plan to become a developed nation based on a knowledge economy.
"ICT too will open up many learning experience for Malaysian children so that they are at par with other children in the rest of the world, hence reducing the digital divide," he said in a statement Thursday.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said on Monday that students would be allowed to bring electronic gadgets to school from next year once rules and regulations under the Education Act 1996 were amended.
