Its revenue increased 26.76% to RM16.9mil from RM13.3mil against the corresponding quarter in the previous year.
In a statement, MYEG attributed the improved results to its introduction of cloud computing based-services, and also to higher volumes of road transport department (JPJ)-related and insolvency search applications.
MYEG executive chairman Datuk Dr Norraesah Mohamad said the results were a clear reflection of the company's growing subscriber base in line with its expanding suite of services.
“We will continue to provide innovative and new services, as well as enhance our existing services, to reinforce our position as Malaysia's leading e-government service provider.”
The group is trying to promote the adoption of the latest e-government service it offers, which is the temporary ownership transfer, or E-Tukar Hakmilik Sementara. The service aims to solve all issues that occur in the transfer of ownership from the seller to the used-car dealer. In doing so, it hopes to provide better protection and transparency in used-car sales transactions.
Under current law, the ownership of a vehicle is registered with the original seller until it is sold to the buyer.
Norraesah said: “The system provides a user-friendly yet transparent platform that clearly states the party that bears the responsibility in the event summonses are issued against the vehicle in the transitional phase', before the vehicle is sold to eventual buyers.”
“With this online system, car sellers can also ensure completion of the sales transactions to used car dealers, granting them peace of mind,” she added.
The system is available for a fee of RM10 and will enable car sellers to transfer their ownership to car dealers for a short period up till six months.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha recently said that the JPJ was monitoring the system's take-up rate and that the Government is considering making it a mandatory adoption.
“We are pleased that the Government is not only willing to embrace (it) but is also constantly acknowledging the adoption of new technologies for the protection of the people.
“We are confident therefore that our new e-government service will be another success story for MYEG,” Norraesah said.
The government service provider also announced its first interim tax-exempt dividend of 0.5 sen per share amounting to RM3mil for the first half of the year ended Dec 31 2011.
