The Road Transport Department is set to implement an electronic system which enables the public to check information on sales and purchase of a car online in November.

Datuk Solah Mat Hassan, the Transport Department Director-General said the e-Transfer system provides online information developed by eAuto Sdn Bhd one can trace records such as the financial status of the original owner and the status of the vehicle they want to purchase.

He made the remarks after attending the 33rd Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Motor and Credit Companies Associations of Malaysia (FMCCAM).

“If anyone decides to trade in their car to a used car dealer, the companies can check the report of that particular vehicle through the e-Transfer system before making any temporary transfer of ownership,” Solah said.

Once a vehicle has been transferred to the car dealer company’s name, the customer will have no right to the car thereafter, and should not feel cheated,” he further said.

Solah said this would solve the problem of summons and car loan issues when a person decides to trade in his or her car to a dealer.

The e-service is carried out through collaboration with FMCCAM which has 3,000 members whose core business is buying and selling used cars, he said.
