The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is expected to implement the e-Transfer system which enables the public to check information regarding sales and purchase of a car via online, in November.

JPJ Director-General Datuk Solah Mat Hassan said the online information developed by eAuto Sdn Bhd and fully supported by the department, would enable the public to check information on the car they plan to buy, especially details of the original owner and other important details.

Through the system, one can trace records of the original owner and his or her financial status and also the status of the vehicle, he told reporters here after attending the 33rd Annual General Meeting (2011) of the Federation of Motor and Credit Companies Associations of Malaysia (FMCCAM) here Sunday.

"If anyone decides to trade in their car to a used car dealer, the companies can check the report of that particular vehicle through the e-Transfer system before making any temporary transfer of ownership.

"Once a vehicle has been transferred to the car dealer company's name, the customer will have no right to the car thereafter, and should not feel cheated," he said.

Solah said this would solve the problem of summons and car loan issues when a person decides to trade in his or her car to a dealer.

"JPJ will car dealers six months to find new buyers. If they fail to sell the cars by then, the car ownership need to be transferred permanently to the used car company," he said.

These e-service is carried out through a collaboration with FMCCAM which has 3,000 members whose core business is buying and selling used cars, he said.

Meanwhile, eAuto Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Ganesh Kumar Bangah said with the implementation of the online service would help improve sales of used cars.

He said the company was currently carrying out training programmes for FMCCAM members nationwide on how to use the online service which is available at www.eAuto.my, a one stop portal, he said.

Ganesh said the e-Transfer system also helps JPJ to obtain detailed information on vehicle ownership and used car sales database which is more structured by the use of a biometrics system application.

Ganesh added that the company also offered a wide range of web-based applications for e-Services such as e-Announcement, e-Classified, e-Event, e-Forum, e-Directory, e-Bulletin News, e-Newsletter alert and e-Shop.
