Led by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, the team will meet up with various Saudi Arabian government agencies to discuss and share Malaysia's experience related to e-government projects initiated 11 years ago.
The team, comprising key implementors of MSC Malaysia and private sector developers such as MSC Technology Centre, Mimos Bhd, MRCB Multimedia and Scans Associates, will attend the e-transactions conference in Riyadh from Jan 14 to 16.
MDeC chief executive officer Badlisham Ghazali will also deliver a keynote address on "Strategic Dimensions of e-Government Transactions".
Badlisham said Malaysian agencies have amassed valuable knowledge and expertise in developing e-government initiatives and are willing to share years of experience and familiarity.
"Malaysia's experience and knowledge in implementing MSC Malaysia and various e-government projects such as human resource management information system, e-procurement, e-billing and e-management of a host of other governmental services would serve as incredible resources that the Saudi Arabian e-government taskforce could tap into," he said.
Badlisham said another critical area was the development of information and communications technology (ICT) security applications and emergency response systems.
"We have gained so much experience and our experts have developed systems to respond to any emergency situations," he said.
The Saudi Arabian government is embarking on e-government projects spanning several key cities, including Medina, Riyadh and Jeddah, to reform its public services and administration.
As such, the e-transactions conference is meant to solicit feedback and learn the wisdom of other countries and governments, MDeC said. Badlisham said with Malaysia being the current chairman of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, it was timely for Malaysia to share with Saudi Arabia the vital information and knowledge as a goodwill gesture.
The mission will also serve to promote the World Congress in Information Technology (WCIT 2008) which will be hosted by Malaysia from May 18 to 22 next year, he said.
"This is a congregation of key global personalities to discuss IT and other global issues and MDeC hopes to attract a high number of participants from the Arab countries to the high profile event," he added.
