The City of Barry has been officially designated as a Smart Rural Community by NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association, with support from Adams Fiber. This prestigious recognition was announced during a Barry City Council meeting, marking a significant milestone in the city's commitment to innovation, growth, and connectivity.

The accolade underscores Barry's leadership in utilizing advanced broadband technology to enhance the community's quality of life, from boosting economic development to improving education and healthcare.

"We are thrilled to bring Barry into the national network of NTCA Smart Rural Communities," said Bridgette Northern, Director of Marketing at Adams Fiber. "This recognition shines a spotlight on Barry's investment in innovation and its commitment to creating a connected and vibrant future."

Northern was joined by other Adams Fiber team members to celebrate the event and present the recognition to Mayor Shawn Rennecker and the Barry City Council.

The NTCA Smart Rural Community program honors communities across the U.S. that are powered by innovative rural broadband providers. It highlights the essential role broadband plays in advancing economic development, empowering education, transforming healthcare through telehealth, and connecting communities to broader opportunities.

Barry will now be featured in national program materials, showcased on the official Smart Rural Community website, and highlighted alongside other forward-thinking rural communities making a tangible impact.

In celebration of this achievement, Barry received a suite of materials to commemorate the milestone, including an exclusive SRC road sign, a certificate of recognition, and a social media marketing kit to promote its innovative accomplishments.
