The project envisages the creation of interactive consumer electronic secure services making them more friendly and accessible to users. This will ensure consumers’ effective protection of their rights, by enforcing eCommerce rules in order to prevent consumer rights violation.
The project has developed an electronic service that will allow citizens and businesses to submit to VVTAT an online application, appeal or complaint, to make a request to participate in the VVTAT preventive programme and to take advantage of consumers' rights online preventive services.
It is expected that the information system will make it much easier for consumers to submit complaints. Currently many people affected by irregularities in the eCommerce systems choose not to respond due to lack of time. The project enables users to fill out the forms online to make complaints to any consumer protection implementing authority and also enables them to monitor the status of their complaint.
The new electronic system will protect the rights of consumers and facilitate the work of public authorities. Data could be used for the exchange of consumer protection information, to systematically monitor, collect and analyse consumer rights indicators on a national level.
The ‘Consumer Information System’ project, under the Operational Programme 'Economic Growth', Priority 3 'Information Society for All', managed by the Information Society Development Committee at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, is expected to be ready for implementation in January 2015.
