Polish Post has launched its first ever digital service on behalf of a government organisation.

Trusted Profile is an identity verification service that forms part of the government’s electronic Public Administration Services Platform (ePUAP).

Launched as a pilot programme, it will see citizens setting up their own trusted digital profile, with their identity verified by a visit to a physical post office and the presenting of an ID card.

Once a Trusted Profile has been set up, citizens will be able to access government services online, including social security payment services or the setting up of businesses.

The national postal operator in Poland said the pilot is being offered through five post offices in Warsaw, but once the trial is complete, it could be extended to hundreds of post offices across the country.

Polish Post said the programme was the first step in Polish Post’s ambition to facilitate citizen access to e-administration services. “Trusted”

Jerzy Jóźkowiak, the Polish Post president, said: “As a trusted public institution that provides safe and secure mail delivery, Polish Post is a natural partner to provide services facilitating contact between citizens and state institutions.

“The company is dynamically digitising its offerings through the digital services platform Envelo, and has been introducing a number of mobile tools for customer connections. Our advantage is the fact that post offices are spread across the whole country. This means that all citizens can easily access e-administration services,” added the Polish Post president.

Polish Post launched its digital communications platform, Envelo, back in 2013, as part of its modernisation and diversification following the liberalisation of the Polish postal market at the beginning of last year.

Envelo.pl was set up as a platform to ultimately provide various digital services to different customer groups, from secure electronic mail to hybrid mail, e-signatures and authentication services.
