The modernisation of the Certification Centre will facilitate two major projects:
- pl.ID, the Polish ID Card
- Information System of Emergency Notification (System Informatyczny Powiadamiania Ratunkowego - SIPR, in Polish), the tele-information system which facilitates the common European emergency call service 112.
The Centre's tasks will include the generation of certificates for public administration employees to enable them to update the system of state registers using the application Integrated Module of Service for End Users (Zintegrowany Moduł Obsługi Końcowego Użytkownika - ZMOKU, in Polish) and certificates for the operators of the regional centres to enable them to operate SIPR. Each action carried out by officials and operators will require an authorisation card with a valid operator certificate.
The Centre will also generate certificates for the technical infrastructure. The modernisation of the Centre will include the introduction of a system of certificate lifecycle management, which will monitor the status of certificates from the moment of their creation to their expiry. In addition, the contractor will create three full-time operator positions for the recording and handling of applications for certificates, as well as conducting training on the new IT infrastructure and software.
