The Spanish Open Data Portal published its source code for reuse under the umbrella of the Open Source Forge of CENATIC, the National Center for Open Source based Technologies (Centro Nacional de Referencia de Aplicación de las TIC basadas en fuentes abiertas, in Spanish). Moreover, a project has been created containing the additional software developed for the datos.gob.es portal, based on open source software as Drupal. The publication of this source code allows any citizen, organisation or company to use it and create their own space dedicated to open data.
Alongside the release of the code of datos.gob.es in its forge, CENATIC has deployed several tools in order to allow a community based evolution of the open data portal. These tools comprise a forum to debate its improvements, a mailing list for message exchange and an space to manage patches and request new features. All future developments of the datos.gob.es portal will also be published on the CENATIC forge.
The publication of datos.gob.es software as open source is the continuation of the commitment of the project with the open data community. Other material and documentation of the portal, for example as its architecture, was also published last year.
