Since 16 March 2011, the Public Procurement Services Platform(PSCP) of the Government of the Autonomous Region of Catalonia has been using the iArxiu Plaftorm, a digital preservation and electronic archiving service developed by the Catalan Certification Agency (CATCert) and aimed at all regional and local public authorities.

PSCP makes use of this service in order to transfer into the electronic archive of iArxiu the various contracting documents that must be published in the frame of the public procurement process (documentation relating to the calls for tender, the awarding of contracts, formal approvals), together with the pertinent logs and the electronic signatures.

The transfer is performed automatically once the contracting documentation can no longer be applied and the legal deadlines for lodging appeals and/or filing requests for annulment have passed.

The project of integration with the iArxiu platform seeks to fulfil the need of PSCP to preserve and archive the contracting documentation issued not only by the departments and bodies of the Government of Catalonia (regional authorities), but also by local authorities.

In this context, it is worth mentioning that PSCP's only function is that of publication, and in no case that of archiving. Therefore, upon completion of the publication phase, transfer to the iArxiu platform starts; the transfer actions take place on a regular and planned basis. The eArchive platform will keep the documents safe and provide access to them to authorised users.

Thanks to its preservation and electronic archiving features, the iArxiu service of CATCert ensures that the documentation that an organisation issues or receives as part of its activities is kept complete, reliable, authentic and accessible during its life cycle. The aim is for the public authorities of Catalonia to be able to transfer, by means of the relevant access agreements, their documents to the iArxiu Platform.

The service has been available to the public authorities of Catalonia since the first trimester of 2010.
