The Catalan Regional Government launched, on 10 November 2010, an open government data portal, where citizens can find public data for re-use.

This launch constitutes an addition to a growing list of international, national, regional and even local open data catalogues, as reported on the European Public Sector Information (EPSI) Platform.

This step from Cataluya follows the initiative of the Spanish central government to promote public information re-use under the Aporta project, which has set a series of recommendations followed by the Catalan portal.

It comes as no surprise that the most populated with data sets category on the Catalan portal is the one dedicated to linguistic data. The portal also features numerous geographical data sets.

The data is available under a series of 4 licences, among which two creative commons licenses.

The portal can be found at Dades Obertes Gencat (open data Generalitat of Catalunya).
