JBG Smith will deploy an advanced digital infrastructure that aims to deliver seamless connectivity and fuel innovation and new business models in Industry 4.0.

Mixed-use property developer JBG Smith has selected Fortress Solutions as a partner for end-to-end facilities management services for its fibre optics, edge data centre, and 5G infrastructure across National Landing in Washington DC, described as “the US’ first 5G smart city at scale”.

Sugar Land plans to install hundreds of miles of infrastructure that will enable all residents and businesses to access fast, affordable and reliable internet.

During a recent meeting, the City of Sugar Land approved SiFi Networks’ 30-year plan to establish fiber optic infrastructure across the city.

Colorado Springs’ Office of Innovation has been working on technology-driven projects over the past few years with the intention of making Colorado Springs a “smart city.”

Deborah Newman, innovation analyst for the Office of Innovation, said that “smart cities” are developed with a set of specific goals in mind.

Arlington County, Va., has announced a partnership with parking technology maker eleven-x for a pilot project to bring sensor technology to some 4,500 public parking spaces. The pilot lays the foundation for other enhancements.

A smart parking project in Virginia will use real-time data and technology to monitor spaces, and even lay the groundwork for a dynamic pricing structure.

New orders for electric buses experienced unprecedented growth in 2022 driven, in part, by robust state and federal incentives, policy pressures and cost savings. With plenty of money in the pipeline, those purchases will continue.

Electric transit buses are finding their way onto U.S. streets at an alarming pace, with some states seeing triple-digit growth in the technology in just the last year.
