    A Centre of e-Governance (CeG) has come up in capital New Delhi to disseminate awareness about e-Governance initiatives in the country. The upgraded centre was opened today by the Minister for Communications & Information Technology, Thiru A. Raja in the premises of the Department of Information Technology, the Electronic Niketan. Minister of State for Communications & IT, Mr. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia was also present on the occasion. The CeG enhancement plan is a part of the "Awareness and Communication " activity under NeGP and seeks to bring the achievements under NeGP under one umbrella for the information of citizens. The Centre will provide the visitor an opportunity to experience different e-services as well as digitally record his / her impressions of the CeG.

  • UK: Centre for eDemocracy set to launch

    The International Centre of Excellence for Local eDemocracy (ICELE) is set to be formally launched this autumn.

    The Centre’s ambition is to help local authorities improve two-way engagement with communities by providing best practice advice, support and practical solutions, focusing on the use of technology.

    ICELE has been in development since early this year and has been designed to take forward the work of the eDemocracy National Project, as well as create new solutions to drive up eParticipation rates. Lichfield District Council will support the development of ICELE as the responsible authority for the Centre.

    Councils are set to benefit from plans agreed by the Regional Centres of Excellence (RCEs) designed to unlock millions of pounds in local government efficiencies. All nine regional directors have given their backing to the principles behind the national procurement programme which is set to transform local government procurement and make major efficiencies in the billions spent each year by the sector on goods and services.
