Huawei Malawi Country Director, Wan Wei has commended government for successfully implementing the National Fibre Backbone Project and the operationalizing of the Malawi Digital Broadcast Network Limited (MDBNL) that is responsible for managing the digital migration process for the country.

Wei whose company Huawei implemented the project, expressed the sentiments Monday in Lilongwe after Parliamentary Committee on Media, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) visited Dowa to tour various installations for MDBNL and the Fibre project last week.

Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through its E-Government department has told civil servants in Nkhotakota that they will have official government email accounts by next month.

Speaking during a meeting organised to orient district civil servants on services available on Government Wide Area Network (GWAN), Deputy GWAN Manager, Sitiopa Kadongola said it is a requirement for every civil servant to use official email addresses when communicating.

Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi has said s dissemination of effective, timely and accurate public communication through utilization of information and communication technologies (ICT) is key to the socio-economic development of the country.

Dausi said this on Wednesday at a launching ceremony of the ministry’s website held at the Department of E-government’s offices in Lilongwe.

Minister of Information and Technology and Communications Nicholas Dausi this week commended Malawi’s integrated mobile network provider TNM for pioneering innovative ICT products and services in the country.

Dausi said this in Lilongwe during the launch of TNM 4.5 G/LTE dubbed: “Think Digital.”
