The government needs to increase funding for technology companies involved in teaching digital skills if the UK is to fill future IT jobs, according to a board member at e-skills UK.

Andy Green, who is also non-executive director at ARM and a member of the Tech Partnership, told V3 that the government needs to "move the needle" when it comes to directing skills funding to technology businesses.

Sharing legal services will help Gloucester City Council deliver £50,000 worth of savings.

Members of the city council’s cabinet agreed to join its legal services with One Legal - a shared service between Tewkesbury and Cheltenham Borough Councils at a meeting on Wednesday.

The council says it will save money and will be better equipped to support the varied and often complex legal work that the authority deals with.

Children in rural schools are missing out on the education opportunities of their city peers because of poor internet connections in the classroom and at home, a report has said.

This morning's report by the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) surveyed more than 1,200 ICT co-ordinators in hundreds of primary and secondary schools – and found a widening gap in the education provision between rural and urban schools, with around two-thirds of rural primaries considering themselves "under-resourced".
