Taxpayers continue to shift from paper to online filing, with electronically filed returns running 10 percent ahead of last year.
In a memo from OMBs e-government and IT administrator Karen Evans and Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs administrator John Graham, the administration last week asked agencies to make the public more aware of the online rulemaking site and the ability to comment on it.
Clarence Crawford, OPM's chief information officer, said the Web site, one of five e-government initiatives that the agency runs, lists more than 18,000 federal jobs and has 400,000 résumés posted online.
Of the 40.2 million returns that have been e-filed, more than 9.2 million were prepared by the taxpayer on a home computer, 23 percent more than last year.
