    Skyline University College organized the second edition of One Day Refresher Course in Management with Emphasis on E-Governance, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and Enterprising Sustainable Smart Cities (Pocket MBA) on April 18, 2018 at SUC Campus. Delegates such as tourism directors, managers, software engineers, IT directors, and SUC Alumni from various corporate and government offices in the UAE have participated in the program.

    The Pocket MBA covered an introduction to E-Governance, a discussion on disruptions which are disrupting the supply line of existing business model, and an insightful overview about difference between Sustainable Innovations and Disruptive Innovations. It also included the topics of emerging technologies like Block Chain, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics. Finally, the program provided an understanding on the application of various technologies in building and developing Enterprising Sustainable Smart Cities. The case studies of Kodak and Chicago Smart City were used in the discussion during the program.

    The initiative is a huge leap from the city’s former e-Government system, launched in 2001, which provided online presence to all government departments. The e-Government system linked government departments with their clients through online portals, enabling the public to transact with government departments online.     Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new smart system that is intended to tackle the problem of long waits for transport at major events in the emirate.

    The RTA's new Smart Time Management System (STMS) will monitor queues and the number of taxis in attendance at venues, to help RTA managers to provision enough transport and to give users a better idea of waiting times.
