Smart Dubai has announced the expansion of the Smart Dubai Global Network.
Launched in April this year, the global network aims to be the largest international network of Smart Cities.
Through the network, Smart Dubai Office is extending its hand in partnership to all individuals and entities that share a passion for advanced technology, Fourth Industrial Revolution breakthroughs, smart living, and spreading happiness in the community with tech-enabled, human-centric services.
“The Smart Dubai Global Network was launched with a view to establishing a comprehensive global platform for exchanging views, insights and ideas on the best mechanisms to create Smart Cities. It discusses the most important strategies for developing the cities of the future and meeting the needs of people across an array of fields and sectors. Since its inception in April this year, the network has expanded to include a number of global Smart Cities’ leaders,” said Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director General, Smart Dubai.
Now numbering more than 140 members, the Smart Dubai Global Network represents government and private sector organisations, research centers, academic institutions, media channels and experts from various fields, including Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, government paperless services, and other emerging technologies.
“The network is an ideal forum for experts to showcase the best practices in the field of Smart City development. It is a fertile environment for supporting emerging companies and enhancing the skills of entrepreneurs, as well as facilitating strengthened cooperation and partnership between Smart Dubai and global entities. We are committed to developing the network to include more industry players and will organise the inaugural annual members meeting to take place in Dubai in 2019,” she added.
Dr. Aisha explained that the Smart Dubai Global Network approach is agile and flexible, with members joining the network online and becoming visible to one another through the first comprehensive global Smart City directory. Through this visibility, she said, Smart Dubai and other network members are able to reach out to one another to collaborate on mutually beneficial areas of interest.
“The Smart Dubai Global Network seeks to position Dubai as a global hub for technology, research, smart living and future cities. It cements Dubai’s global prestige and the city’s soft power that comes with knowledge, further transforming the city into a laboratory for experimenting with and implementing bold pilot projects and breakthroughs,” added Dr. bin Bishr.
