The Hanoi People's Committee has announced plans to install over 40,000 new surveillance cameras across the capital during the 2025–2030 period.
The move is part of a project aimed at bolstering public safety, traffic management, and urban order.
Under the plan, 16,000 of the cameras will be designated for state management, focusing on traffic safety, environmental oversight and city maintenance. Of the total number, 12,000 will be pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras capable of changing direction and zooming in or out, while the remaining 28,000 will be stationary.
