  • Angola Stands 127th in UN Electronic Governance Ranking

    Angola stands in the 127th position in the ranking of the United Nations electronic governance ranking, after having risen 31 places from the year 2005 today.

    This was said Friday in Luanda by the deputy minister of Science and Technology, Pedro Teta.

    The official, who was reacting to this year’s UN e-Government Survey report, said this rise was owed to the central Government effort that led to the country’s shooting from its previous 158th position of the year 2005.

  • Angola startet 2006 umfassendes E-Government-Projekt

    Beginnt mit Aufbau einer Public Key Infrastructure

    Die Regierung Angolas will im kommenden Jahr ein umfassendes E-Government-Projekt starten. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Schweizer Security-Spezialisten WiseKey soll eine Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) eingerichtet werden, über die eine Identifizierung der Bürger bei der Online-Kommunikation mit Behörden sichergestellt werden soll. An dem "Secure Angola Project" sind außerdem Microsoft und Hewlett Packard beteiligt, teilte WiseKey heute in Tunis mit.

  • Angola: Parliament Speaker highlights approval of electronic governance

    The Speaker of the National Assembly (Parliament), Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, highlighted last Sunday in his speech, at the AU Summit, the approval by the Angolan government of its private electronic network project dubbed “e-Government”, as a means to improve transparency.

    Speaking in representation of the Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, in the 14th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), which kicked off on Sunday, Fernando Dias dos Santos highlighted that “e-Governo” (electronic governance) is aimed at strengthening the relationship of the government with its umbrella organs, the population and the private sector.

  • AO: Boosting of ICT's Recommended

    The 4th Broad Consultative Council on Information and Communication Technologies held in northern Uige province from March 21-22, recommended the boosting of programmes of massification of the information and communication technologies around the country.

    The recommendation is contained in the meeting's final communiqué that reached Angop on Saturday.

    Addressing the closing of the event, minister José Carvalho da Rocha urged the participants to fulfil the conclusions and recommendations from the Consultative Council.

  • AO: Cabinda may gain telemedicine system by 2014

    The Northern Cabinda province may have a telemedicine system from 2014, whose project was presented on Thursday by a team of experts in planning and consultation, with the GNV Soluços Seguras, Angop has learnt.

    Speaking to the press, the firm's responsible, Rafael Navajo Garrido, highlighted the importance of telemedicine in the world, considering as innovator and that will help the populations in far off areas and improve people living conditions.

  • AO: Minister stresses e-government

    Angolan minister of Telecommunication and Information Technologies, José Carvalho da Rocha, Monday here said the electronic Government allows citizens to participate in social life and lessen poverty.

    José Carvalho da Rocha expressed this view while speaking at the opening of Conference on e-Governance and Private Network of State in Angola (e-Gov).

    The official said that the meeting aims to assess, among other matters, the works developed by the coordinating team of the project of Electronic Government approved in 2010.

  • AO: Ministry to expand broadband services

    The deputy minister of Telecommunications, Aristides Safeca, said Monday in Luanda the approval of the Telecommunication White Paper will create conditions to enable cellphone users to access broadband services.

    The official was delivering the topic “Information policies and information”, under the panel “ICT as a vector of economic and social development”, as part of the ongoing forum on information and communication forum.

    According to Aristides Safeca, the white paper comprises a set of practical pillars of what the legislative reform is about, hence the need for the creation of conditions giving all Angolans access to broadband services alike almost everywhere in Africa.

  • AO: New technologies to boost country's development - vice minister

    The vice minister of Information Technologies, Pedro Sebastião Teta has considered the new technologies as key springboard in development of the country.

    Addressing Monday in Luanda a Conference on Electronic Government and Private Network of State in Angola, Pedro Teta said that the Angolan government adopted the initiative in 2006.

    According to him, the government is engaged in development of mechanisms enabling the achievement of tangible results for the new technology in Angola.

  • AO: Real Economy Commission Analyses National Plan for Information Society

    The Commission for the Real Economy of the Council of Ministers Thursday, in Luanda, analyzed the National Plan for the Information Society, a document that updates the action plan of the sector, approved in 2006.

    At the end of the session, chaired by the Vice - President of the Republic, Manuel Vicente, the State secretary for Information Technology, Pedro Teta, told the press that, among other issues, was made the assessment of the National Plan for the Information Society.

  • E-Net Phase Two underway in Angola

    Huawei, in partnership with the Angola Ministry of Education and Unitel, has launched phase two of E-Net, a project to connect schools in Angola.

    “The objective of this project is to promote bridging of digital divide among Angola youth, at the same time enhancing research and development in ICT leading to localized innovations.’ Said Mr. Leon Liu, Director at Huawei Technologies Angola Representative office. He added that Huawei was committed to collaborate with local partners such as the government and Unitel to advance Angola as knowledge based economy.

  • India apprised MoU with Angola in field of electronics and IT

    The purpose of the MoU is to promote closer cooperation in the areas of e-governance, development of human resources, etc.

    The Office of the Union chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was informed of the agreement between India and Angola to promote bilateral cooperation in the field of electronics and information technologies.
