  • UAE: Dubai Police enters into strategic partnership with Emcredit

    Emcredit, the UAE's first private credit information company, announced today that it has formalised a data sharing agreement with Dubai Police. The agreement also paves the way for Emcredit to develop other information based solutions such as fraud detection solutions.

    This announcement was made today at a press conference at Dubai Police headquarters. The agreement was signed by Maj. Gen Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Chief of Dubai Police, and Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Managing Director of Emcredit.

  • UAE: Dubai Police rolls out dynamic e-services through Oracle portal

    Oracle Corp, the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that Dubai Police has selected the Oracle technology platform to power its e-services portal, which delivers dynamic services to Dubai's more than 900,000 residents.
  • UAE: Dubai Police set up electronic investigation department

    Cyber crimes are a danger to the financial state of indivituals, companies and institutions, they negatively effect morals by promoting abnormal behaviour, said Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, deputy general commander of Dubai Police.

    Al Mazeina opened the Third Interpol’s Group of Experts Meeting on IT Crime in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the Dubai Police Academy on Sunday.

    “The UAE and the Dubai Police have given this type of crime special attention due to the importance of trade, tourism, and global status of the country.”

  • UAE: Dubai Protocol and Guest House Department launches online portal

    The Protocol and Guest House Department in Dubai has recently announced the launch of a public portal http://protocol.dubai.ae that features the foreign and diplomatic affairs of the State and official events attended by their Highnesses the Sheikhs or events organised under their patronage.

    H.E. Khalifa Saeed Suliman, the General Director of the Department while commenting on the launching of the portal referred to the assistance rendered by Dubai eGovernment in creating the Protocol website in order to elevate standards of services provided by the Department.

  • UAE: Dubai Public Libraries apply RFID system

    As part of its development and modernization projects Dubai Public Libraries Department has recently applied RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system for managing and organizing information and database in all seven public libraries spread over different areas of the emirate of Dubai.

    Eng. Salah Amiri, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for General Support Services Sector said the RFID technology will revolutionize how librarians do their work, and how customers receive library services.

  • UAE: Dubai Public Prosecution Adopts Dubai Egovernment’s SMS Service

    Dubai eGovernment Department has announced that Dubai Public Prosecution has recently adopted its SMS integrated service, which allows clients, including the transacting public, lawyers and prosecutors, to inquire about cases, times of sessions, resolutions, and the status of proposals and requests drafted by the Public Prosecution. Users can simply send an SMS containing data on the nature of the query, such as the case type, date and serial number, at a nominal cost of 60 fils per text.

    E-investigation process has been upgraded for lawyers and staff

    Dubai Public Prosecution has taken its strategy in adopting best information-technology practices a step further as it boosted yesterday its e-investigation process for a swifter and proficient implementation of justice.

    “The e-investigation process is one of the most important electronic services which Dubai Public Prosecution (DPP) started facilitating to prosecutors. We have upgraded our strategy in adopting IT advancements [especially the e-investigation process] to become more efficient and competent in enforcing justice and law,” said Khalifa Bin Deemas, Prosecutor General and Head of Dubai Attorney General’s Technical Office.

    A new community outreach programme, involving a series of roadshows at universities and colleges, aims to profile the benefits of future aims of Dubai's eGovernment project.

  • UAE: Dubai ranks 42nd in global e-government

    In terms of e-government, Dubai remains a leader in the Middle East. But if it is to become fully e-government enabled there are several challenges that must be overcome.

    These include dealing with issues of security, accessibility, coordination and collaboration, and raising citizen awareness and confidence, according to a study undertaken by the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) and discussed in its June quarterly economic report.

    Lt Sara said that GDRFA's Facebook and Twitter will receive questions or inquiry from public

    The public can now contact the Dubai General Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) by Facebook or by following it on Twitter, said a Ministry of Interior official.

    Lieutenant Sara Saeed Al Mutawa, project manger at the IT section at the residency department, said: "We established those social networks recently and we have noticed that the public is interested in it."

  • UAE: Dubai Roads & Transport Authority wins 2nd place in GCC e-Government Awards

    The Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has won the second place award in the GCC e-Government Award 2009 held recently in the Omani capital Muscat, for the category of the best electronically advanced organization (E-Maturity Class) at the GCC level following a fierce competition with several GCC Ministries and organizations.

    Submissions to the Awards were assessed by an international panel comprising members from several countries worldwide.

  • UAE: Dubai RTA launches DAST Portal

    Roads & Transport Authority - Nashwan Atta'ee: The Higher Organizing Committee of the Dubai Award for Sustained Transport (DAST) has recently launched a webpage posted as a link on the website of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in a bid to promote DAST online. The move is part of a new strategy pursued by the Committee to present the 3rd edition of the Awards in a way outshining the previous two editions, and showcase the e-services offered by the RTA in keeping with the Dubai eGovernment drive.

    According to Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al Zahid, Chairperson of DAST Higher Organizing Committee, launching DAST portal was intended to facilitate the procedures of registering government and semi-government authorities and departments as well as private companies vying for the first three positions in all categories of the Award.

  • UAE: Dubai School of Government addresses stiff challenges facing Arab world

    E-Governance could be the catalyst for addressing more complex areas of governance that challenge the Arab world, according to Tarik Yousef, Dean of Dubai School of Government.

    Yousef's comments came at the opening session of the 3rd Working Group meeting on E-Government and Administrative Simplification, and a high level seminar on 'Measuring and Evaluating e-Government'.

  • UAE: Dubai School of Government Launches Arabic Edition of Book on e-Government

    The Dubai School of Government (DSG), a research and teaching institution focusing on public policy in the Arab world, today launched the Arabic edition of Governance and Information Technology: From Electronic Government to Information Government, in Dubai.

    The book analyses the shift from the narrow focus of electronic government on technology and transactions to the broader perspective of information government, which includes the information flows within the public sector, between the public sector and citizens, as well as among citizens. It depicts an in-depth understanding of the changing nature of governing and governance in an information society.

  • UAE: Dubai School of Government receives top Harvard and international thinkers

    Twelve of the world's top thinkers including five Harvard University faculty will converge in Dubai for a two-day conference aimed at empowering regional governments with information and knowledge on successful e-government strategy and implementation.

    The conference entitled "From E-Government to I-Government: How Information Government will Revolutionize the Public Sector" to be held on 23 - 24 May 2005, is being organised by the Dubai School of Government (DSG) in partnership with Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

  • UAE: Dubai School of Government to manage region's e-Government sharing portal

    The Dubai School of Government (DSG) will gain ownership of the Middle East's first e-government Arab Sharing Portal in 2010.

    The portal was established by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP/ICTDAR), during the 2005 World Summit for Information Society (WSIS) in Tunisia, to promote e-governance.

    Volume of online transactions crosses Dh1.1b

    The volume of e-payment transactions made through Dubai eGovernment portal during the first six months of 2010 exceeded Dh1.1 billion, compared to Dh1.4 billion for the whole of last year, said a government official in an interview in Dubai yesterday.

    "It's has increased by 60 per cent which shows that more people are using our electronic services," said Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment. "It saves time for the consumers and it's easy to use," said Bin Humaidan, explaining the reason behind the increase in the numbers. The platform allows consumers to pay their traffic fines and bills online, among other services.
