This according to Minister of Health, Jerry Narace as he spoke about government’s $70 million investment into the e-health initiative scheduled to commence in 2012.
E-Health, a relatively recent term for healthcare practice, is supported by electronic processes and communication. Some would argue it is interchangeable with health care informatics, while others use it in the narrower sense of healthcare practice using the Internet.
Nevertheless, the term encompass a range of services that are at the edge of medicine/healthcare and information technology according to Narace who gave an insight into what this country is doing to set up the facility during his presentation at the Commonwealth Business Forum entitled, ’Innovative Solutions to Healthcare’ onboard the Serenade of the Seas Cruise ship docked at the Port of Port of Spain waterfront on Wednesday.
’It’s a $70 million Illuminat contract, that is currently being rolled out and that’s the hardware, the cable and all of that. Then of course, there are other areas involved in the process,’ he said.
