Munich's online portal is unattractive, has no image and lacks content, according to a survey by Tomorrow magazine of ten different German cities’ homepages. The sites were evaluated with regard to tourism, leisure time, online services and user friendliness. While services in winning cities Hamburg, Bremen and Stuttgart were well developed, Munich was struggling with a lack of cash and state employees who tried unsuccessfully to keep the website up to date.

The city is currently working on an overhaul of its website, and also wants to include an "interactive town hall," where citizens can process a wide range of requests.

It remains to be seen whether the new site will catch up with other cities such as Bremen, where dog owners can even register their four-legged friends online.
