Transforming Government since 2001
Geo InSight International, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permits to enhance the City’s existing ESRI-based geographic information system (GIS). The work will involve integrating construction-related databases from City, State, Federal, and private utility agencies. The results of this year-long effort will enable City employees to better evaluate and mitigate the impacts of proposed construction activities on public safety, parking, traffic, and access. It will also provide the public with the ability to view planned and ongoing construction activities within their neighborhoods through the City’s existing intuitive ArcIMS® web-based map interface.

“These new tools will represent a significant advance in Honolulu’s e-government services and will surely facilitate greater public awareness and involvement in overall public safety,” said John Ford, Director of Geo InSight’s Asia Pacific Regional Office in Hawaii. Ken Schmidt, GIS Coordinator of the City and County of Honolulu’s Land Information System stated, “This is an exciting project, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Geo InSight in developing a geo-information system that will help the City better track, manage, and coordinate local construction projects.”
