Transforming Government since 2001
Everyone has struggled with government bureaucracy, so most people will be surprised to learn that bureaucrats really want to make your life easier. When asked to select from a variety of factors driving online government services, 93 percent of senior executives in government agencies across North America, Europe, and Asia said "improving citizen satisfaction" was a key driver behind online government services.

The survey of 140 executives also found 83 percent selecting "customer demands for new and better services" and 77 percent choosing the need to meet "government performance targets," management and IT consultant Accenture reported Tuesday. Only 51 percent selected "pressure to reduce costs."

"The mantra we increasingly hear from government executives is 'give the people what they want,'" said Steve Rohleder, global chief executive of Accenture's Government practice. "As government executives focus on tailoring online services to meet the needs of specific customer segments, just as businesses do, their eGovernment programs will be more successful and deliver greater returns on the investments."
