New South Wales finance minister Greg Pearce has urged the state's ICT industry to participate in the public consultation on implementation of the government's ICT strategy.
A draft implementation update sets out the progress made in the NSW Government ICT Strategy's seven priority areas since it was launched in 2012 and the priorities for the state in 2013.
"Since releasing our ICT strategy, the government has established Service NSW to focus on delivering more effective services for the community and cutting red tape when entering into contracts to supply ICT services to government," Pearce said in a statement.
"We are delivering on our open data initiative to improve information management, making it easier for small business to engage with government agencies and develop the right skills in our ICT staff."
Implementation goals for 2013 in the draft outlines include possible process improvements at Services NSW; making more government data sets available to the public and highlighting open government initiatives in agencies' annual reports; developing the state government's cloud policy; and implementing a category management approach to ICT procurement.
The consultation paper also proposes steps forward for information management and continuing to develop an ICT skills framework.
