“By providing a consolidated, single-point-of-truth to our data, our staff will be able to make better decisions,” said Dale Dickson, CEO of Gold Coast City Council.
“For example, when all the planned changes are fully implemented, work orders will be able to be assigned based on proximity to avoid unnecessary driving time for work crews.
“Operational personnel can share a common operating picture that reflects the real-time status of opportunities, problems and resources in the field,” he said.
The new GIS solution is expected to deliver significant tangible returns, including increased productivity, advanced business processes and streamlined operations, and potential savings amounting to millions of dollars for the council.
The council will initially use the new technology to complement their Enterprise Planning Resource System processes, where one of the first projects slated will improve planning for the maintenance of government-owned assets.
The project marks the first time in Australia that a jointly developed Esri and SAP software solution, which embeds Esri technology into core SAP business processes, has been rolled out – without requiring customisation.
