The second annual Australians' Use of and Satisfaction with e-Government Services report, which was published today, indicates that 48 percent of Australians accessed government services over the Internet, compared with 39 percent the year before.
"The 2006 study demonstrates increasing confidence in e-government services by Australians, and illustrates the potential of e-government to improve the range and quality of services provided by government," said Nairn.
According to Nairn, the number of people that solely interact with the government over the Internet has also increased from 14 percent to 19 percent.
Nairn said that users of e-government services are becoming more aware of security issues: "There is a balance required between the desire for fast convenient service with the desire for a completely secure service.
"We will continue to build trust among users and potential users in relation to security and privacy," Nairn added.
