Transforming Government since 2001
A new company has been set up to help export Singapore Public Service Infocomm solutions. Named IDA International Pte Ltd it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDA Singapore. It is set up to meet the increasing requests and interests from foreign governments to implement public service infocomm solutions, and will serve as the primary execution arm for collaborations with overseas public sector agencies.

Some of the services offered by IDA International include national infocomm planning and e-Government consultancy. In doing so, it aims to create business opportunities for Singapore infocomm companies to export their expertise, products and solutions. The Singapore companies will also stand to gain a deeper and broader understanding of global Infocomm developments and developed skilled resources necessary for the ongoing development of Singapore’s own capabilities.

“There are many countries today that can benefit from Singapore’s ICT experience and expertise. Singapore is in a unique position to assist these countries in areas such as National Infocomm planning, Government Chief Information Office (GCIO) capability development, ICT Industry development and human capital development amongst others. Through IDA International, we are able to bring our public service infocomm solutions to accelerate the execution of Government Infocomm programmes in these countries,” according to Mr. Seah Chin Siong, CEO of IDA International. Beyond Asia, some of the regions which IDA International is currently exploring include the Middle East, South Africa, Central & South America and the Caribbean.

RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of IDA Singapore said, “IDA Singapore regularly receives requests by foreign government agencies for sharing and collaboration in the area of masterplanning and developing ICT solutions for eGovernment, given IDA's involvement in Singapore's eGovernment journey over the years. With the setting up of IDA's wholly-owned subsidiary, IDA International, we would be better positioned to provide a focussed and holistic approach in such collaboration with governments overseas, and this will also bring new opportunities for Singapore infocomm companies, which have a strong track record of implementing ICT solutions.”

Singapore has close to 30 years of experience in implementing infocomm solutions in the public sector and it has made the country one of the e-Government leaders in the world. With the accumulated experience and capabilities, it puts Singapore in good stead to share its experience on delivering services to better socio-economic outcomes through infocomm.

IDA International is involving local industry partners in its foreign engagements [with the foreign governments]. To date, teaming agreements have been sealed with local companies such as NCS, ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems), Infowave, Eucharist, SQLView, Ecquaria Technologies, Netrust and Elixir.

According to Ms Tan Yen Yen, Chairman of Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), “The idea for a greater push in internationalisation was first mooted during an industry dialogue session with MICA in 2007. IDA International can help us internationalise our local ICT industry by leveraging on Singapore's eGov and public sector infocomm success. Through IDA international’s engagement with overseas market, Singapore infocomm companies can now leverage on the opportunities that previously may not be available. The eGovernment Chapter of SiTF will collaborate closely with IDA International to play an important role in accelerating Singapore ICT industry and gain greater recognition for Singapore innovative solutions and services in the global market.”

In addition to local companies, IDA International is also engaging government agencies like IE Singapore and SCE to explore possible collaborations to export our Singapore’s Infocomm capabilities together.
