Medway Council uses an Adobe product to make the e-form system work and so successful has it been in doing this that dozens of other businesses and organisations have been talking to Medway about its work. Medway now has more than 130 e-forms available for people to use. It started in December 2003 with a complaint e-form.
The drive to provide as many e-forms as possible for the public to use is part of the councils efforts to meet the e-government agenda, which encourages public services to be made electronically.
The council has received consistently positive feedback from customers, who find the service efficient and easy to use.
The e-forms can be accessed at any PC with an Internet connection, or free from any of the Medway online kiosks that can be found in Medway. The council launched the kiosk service earlier this year.
To date 6,500 people have completed e-forms. The council now receives an average of 600 e-forms a month since the service was launched. The spread of e-forms now cover 85 different areas looked after by the council.
The next phase of Medways e-forms is due to go live this summer. It will involve integrating e-forms with other computer software to make sure the transfer of information from one department to another is seamless. Its part of the councils efforts to ensure its customers are always put first the Customer First programme.
