After seeing the success of telehealth technology trial in three places, Cornwall, Kent and Newham across London, Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that this technology would be enrolled in other parts of the country within five years.

Telehealth technology seems to be quite useful for patients and especially elderly people. If one uses this scheme then he does not need to step out of his house and get vital health checkups done through electronic equipments at home and its results would be sent electronically to respective GPs.

During the trial phase, they found lot of improvement in all the three places. The researchers who took part in the pilot study were of the view that the number of deaths that used to take place in these areas got reduced by almost half.

Cameron said, "Diabetics taking their blood sugar levels at home and having them checked by a nurse; heart disease patients having their blood pressure and pulse rate checked without leaving their home; dignity, convenience and independence for millions of people".

It would not only act as door step service for people in need but would also be of great use for hospitals and its staff. There would be overall less waiting lines and number of deaths as proved would also decline. There would more number of free beds available to those who urgently need them.

With reduced pressure, hospital staff would also be able to think about its other plans. Results of pilot study has revealed that if telehealth technology is used then it could reduce almost 15% of A&E admissions and 45% decline in deaths have also been revealed.

Hospital emergency admissions were also found to be reduced by 20%. Its overall success and utility has made the government to roll out this decision which would benefit people.
