Veridos has won a contract with The Republic of Zambia to deliver polycarbonate electronic ID cards to the country.
Based on the German eID card concept, there is a contactless security chip embedded in the new ID card which supports multiple applications for biometric identification, authentication, and digital signature services. International standards including X.509 certificates for secure authentication are applied and biometric information is stored on the card
“We are pleased to provide the Republic of Zambia with new state-of-the-art eID cards,” says Veridos CEO Hans Wolfgang Kunz. “Zambia’s citizens will profit from a contactless ID card infrastructure that offers various application options, including convenient access to eGovernment services, for example.”
“Following the delivery of national passports and passports for the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, this is the third project that we are implementing for the Republic of Zambia, a reflection of our continuous and valued partnership,” added Thomas Morian, vice president sales Africa.
Earlier this month, Veridos announced that it has been commissioned by the Police Grand-Ducale Luxembourg to install ten eGates for automated border control at Luxembourg international airport.
